Christina has been posting nothing but vintage photos of her gorgeous grandma over on her tumblr this week and they are all so happy-making. The one above I found to be particularly adorable.

Speaking of family photos, I’ve also been completely captivated by Backyard Bill’s series of family portraits. His work is always so, so great.

Have you ever wondered how the heck to wear a petticoat? I sure have! Let’s let Solanah, from Vintage Vixen, tell us everything we need to know.

100 thank yous go to Rebecca from Minn Chic for giving the heads up that the OPI collection inspired by The Muppets (!!!) is coming soon. You can view the slide show of colors here; I pretty much want them all.

Have you been weeping into your empty wine glass because sangria season is over? Yeah, me too. Let’s all dry our eyes and make this autumn-y version, c/o Fresh Tart Steph, OK? OK.

How cool is this contraption? It turns a basic jar into a beautiful, lace-y vase.

Speaking of design done well, I’m in so much love with these daily metaltations, found via Miss Moss. The first one is my favorite, followed by the light bill one.

This post, full of fresh ideas for wearing florals into the fall, couldn’t have come at a more appropriate time. Thanks Lavelle!

I’ll be back soon with a fun how-to…til then, take care.

Many thanks to Starr for bringing these Venetia Scott shots, one of which is pictured above, to my attention.

This week’s sweet manicure inspiration is c/o Spill the Vintage. Such a pretty look.

My diet this summer is woefully lacking in the s’mores department. This post gave me lots of ideas on how to remedy this sad situation.

Ever wonder what’s inspiring to Emerson Fry (of EmersonMade fame)? Now you know.

How ’bout this genius idea for funding a cross-country road trip? I’m adding that to my “why didn’t I think of that first?” file.

My belief that California girls are cooler was reinforced by Erin’s pics from Outside Lands. Check out her shots from day one and days two and three. Such. Pretty. Girls.

Currently top this weekend’s must-make list? White sangria popsicles.

I’m off to pack for a quick work overnight. Fingers crossed I have time to hit some thrifts on the way to and fro my meetings…

I wish The Thrift Store Cowboy lived closer to Minneapolis. We’d definitely be friends.

Is Goodsie the new Etsy? Some smart people in my life are saying yes.

A nice article on the queen of soul.

A big old school bus full of vintage clothes…swoon.

♥ Why don’t they make television shows like this anymore?

Dieting is for dummies…unless it’s the of the digital variety.

♥ The odds are good that I’ll blog a margarita recipe every week now through September. I’m sorry! Here are directions on how to make raspberry sangria margaritas. Num.

The odds are also good I’ll blog a cute mani on the regular. Again, sorry! But c’mon…how pretty is this idea? Too pretty not to share.

I don’t know squat about art, which is probably why I found this post, by one of Minneapolis’ funniest writers, so helpful.

This post inspired me to add some new movies to my Netflix queue, including Foxes.

♥ Speaking of movies, enjoy these life lessons from the movie Clueless.

And last but not least, check out two new Tumblr crushes…Squirrels with Lasers and Animals Being D*cks.

Hugs!

Ready for your weekly dose of things interesting things on the Internets? Off we go…

Like the pic above? It’s from my tumblr crush of the week, That Kind of Woman.

“Mirror cleansing.” I like this idea (and this entire post) a whole heck of a lot.

The Ghost Adventurers visited Loretta Lynn’s ranch and I missed it. Poop.

These Tennessee sunset pics are making me all nostalgic for vacation.

Silly me. Why haven’t I been following Time Enough for Drums until now?

Got to try this ombre mani how-to ASAP.

These yummy micheladas would go perfectly with nachos. So would these frozen peach margs. Yum, yum, yum.

I hope y’all have had beauteous days so far. After work I’m heading up to St. Cloud to visit with my man’s fam. If I’m lucky, we’ll squeeze in a stop at Savers, too! Wheeeee!

Happy Tuesday dears! Here are a few things I’ve been loving on this week…

Seeing my dear friend Jessica’s beautifully curated loft space on Design*Sponge yesterday. I practically jumped out of my chair with excitement—I’m so happy and proud of her!

Finding out that my favorite vintage store in Minneapolis (um, besides my own), started a Tumblr this week. Give ’em a follow! (I heard they’re giving away something awesome once they get to 50 followers!)

Making giant bowls of salads and living off them for days. I made this one last night and it is yummy.

Giggling at these artsy pothole photos.

Being moved by this brave blogger and her ambitious new project.

Ignoring my to do list to pour over vintage Vogue editorials on Youthquakers. Such an awesome time suck (and way more fun than mopping my floors)!

Loving the latest  podcast from Girl Germs Radio featuring the lovely C.L.A.P. gals. Lots of great DIY advice, as well as the usual awesome tunes.

xo!

Some things that have made my week a little brighter…

Browsing the Field Museum Library’s Flickr stream and finding some beautiful old photos. The one above, of Portland roses, was taken on during a botany expedition in 1910.

Finding new dinner recipes to try on Foodily, a super smart recipe browser. I’m trying these spring-y nachos out Thursday night and I can’t wait!

Hearing that the best rock venue in the world started a Tumblr. Can you imagine how much cool stuff in the archives they have to share?

Learning how to drink like my favorite author.

Plotting out when I’m going to make these scrumptious sounding blueberry cheesecake popsicles. Yum, yum.

Dreaming about a retirement spent in the desert with a collection of huipils that rivals this one hanging on my walls.

Crushing on Claudia Schiffer in the early ’90s. What a beauty!

Trying out some new braided summertime ‘dos.

Wowzers, today’s been a busy one. I’m excited to knock out some quick errands and then spend the rest of the night unwinding with a yoga DVD and a super-duper hot bath. While I’m erranding, stretching and soaking, enjoy these links to things that have been making me happy this week.

Obsessed is an understatement when it comes to my search for classic country blogs that are worth following. Wild Mountain Roses is one of my happiest discoveries of late.

Did you see my pal Mary in Glamour mag this month? She’s on pg. 132 looking sooooo beautiful in a thrifted skirt she bought on one of our many shopping adventures. And I also spotted a trio of MPLS cuties, photographed by Ellen Dahl, in this month’s Lucky! You go girls!

The juicy pops of colors in Rodarte for Opening Ceremony’s lookbook are so rad! Thanks to Nylon, I found out that Urban Outfitters sells a pack of surround Holga filters so you can recreate the look yourself. Sweetness.

How close have I come to convincing myself that I need a drawer full of these $68 knickers from Hopeless? Dangerously.

Staying on the topic of irresistable underthings, I would have given my right arm to be at The Loved One’s fanatically flower-filled pop-up shop opening. Why does everything awesome happen in California? (No really, why?)

This “It’s Cool to be a Cat Guy” video cracked me up. (My guy, for the record, is definitely a cat guy.)

I’ve blabbed about my love for retro curls here and here, so you can imagine how excited I am to try Seablanket’s ’70s curl how-to. She has the best tutorials, FYI!

And finally, since we’re on the topic of getting prettified, Beauty Bets‘ e-newsletter launches tomorrow. Have you signed up?
