goldie hawn yo-yoing This is, hands down, the best baking contest EVER invented. Now who wants to come over and dream up a killer cake with me?!? (Thank you, Megan, for the heads up!)

Speaking of female food things: Engagement Chicken: A History of Romantic Culinary Bullsh*t.

Thank heavens I’m not the only one who wants to Skip the Wedding, Stalk the Hashtag. #whew

Top on my list of fall-y things to make this weekend: Apple Peel Bourbon and DIY boot socks.

As someone who lost two Grandmas to Alzheimer’s disease, this poignant and love-filled mini movie had me crying in my cube.

It’s been a month since I read this woman’s story, and my thoughts still keep coming back to her.

On a lighter note: Bob Weir and Jerry Garcia’s AIDS PSA blooper reel. I die.

I have a file going of prints to hang in my fantasy kitchen. These beauties by Amy C. Evans are officially on the list.

Well that’s it for now. I’ve got a full day of work ahead and then I’m heading to Rollie’s in St. Cloud to see Mr. Moe Bandy perform. If you’re unfamiliar, listen to a few of his songs while you check out this round-up of his album cover art. He’s an under-appreciated gem of ’70s-era country, if you ask me!

Meghan

Poignant shots of modernist homes just prior to their demolition.

In defense of old-lady perfumes. Amen to all of this.

Really digging this #girlboss video series that’s going down over on Nasty Gal. Lots of inspiration and wisdom in those two-minute videos!

Last but not least, a candid interview with lil’ ol’ me re: my favorite local thrift stores and people I like on Twitter (and in real life).

News of Rifle Paper Co.’s wallpaper line caught my eye, especially since I’m kicking around the idea of doing my bathroom. That Peonies pattern in mint is calling my name!

This lovely essay by my friend Kara about her family’s farm had me all kinds of choked up…not that that stopped me from reading it through twice in a row.

Didn’t know I could love Betty White any more, but then I go and see this little tidbit. So cute!

10 common types of writers block (and how to overcome them, quickly).

Thanks, Bust, for this handy guide to annihilating street harassers, just in time for summer.

Taking cues from your youth to fuel your creativity today.

A brief history of vegetable metaphors. I’m such a dork for this kind of thing.

Wise advice for creating a home you’ll love (for more than a month).

Three cleanse-approved recipes I made and loved this week: Acai Berry Bowl (SO incredibly filling), Almond Butter-Honey “Caramel” Corn (yep, sue me, the honey is cheating) and Lentil and Eggplant Chili Mole (really tasty with a baked sweet potato on the side).

I couldn’t stop scrolling through these impeccable pairings of fashion and art and photography. Seriously entrancing eye candy.

Meow, this video has the sweetest ’60s sex-kitten vibe. Totally adorable.

There’s something so soothing about this floral wall art DIY from Sincerely, Kinsey. It’d be a super fun photo backdrop for a garden party, yes?

The entrepreneur in me loves seeing where these famous fast-food chains got their start. (LOL Pizza Hut!)

This dog-baking-a-Bundt video had me in stitches today. Too cute not to share.

In case you were wondering, this is what I’ll be snacking on when I spend some quality time with Netflix this weekend. (With some popcorn on the side, too, duh.)

Speaking of the weekend, here’s hoping you have an absolutely wonderful one! Mine is shaping up to be a mix of concerts, freelance, chores and couch-time. (Just how I like it.)

I have no idea how I came across this but here’s Eddie Murphy at the premiere of Purple Rain. You’re welcome?

There’s something about these illustrated prints of fancy perfumes I just love. (Concept, styling and art direction by Heidi Xandt.)

Miss Moss started a fashion tumblr, and of course, it’s impeccable.

If you’ve ever had an inner dialogue in the shoe department about the sacrifices you’re willing to make to bring a certain pair home, you will definitely relate to this zine.

Three things I pinned and made this week; all were flat-out delicious: Kielbasa and Pierogies Sheet Pan Meal; Buffalo Patatas Bravas and Brown Butter Roasted Banana Muffins.

I’ve been following all The Anti-Diet Project posts and this latest installment (on the stupidity of Last Supper-style mindsets) is, of course, great. Intuitive Eating is where it’s at!

It’s so easy to admire a friend’s skill with layered bracelets, or see a beautifully retro belt styled in a magazine, but to be stumped in front of the mirror when trying to pull it off at home. If accessorizing your way leaves you feeling a little, “huh?,” my friend Sal has a class coming up on February 9th with your name on it. Sal will be sharing pearls of wisdom galore, including advice on how to work in vintage and thrifted finds in the mix (she’s a pro!). Sign up here.
