heads up: veteran’s day sales

{source}

Here’s a quick round-up of thrift-store sales happening around town this weekend!

Savers
Tomorrow only, take 50 percent off all used merchandise.  Stores will be open bright and early at 7 a.m. all the way until 9 p.m.

Unique and Valu Thrift
VIP card-holders will get 50 percent off their entire purchases tomorrow. Stores will be open extra-long, from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Hidden Treasures Thrift Store
Save 30 percent on anything in the store tomorrow (10 a.m. to 7 p.m.) and Saturday (10 a.m. to 5 p.m.).

Goodwill
In celebration of their new stores in Blaine and Rogers, shoppers at either of those two locations will save 50 percent on all blue, green and yellow tagged items. (I’ve had readers tell me they’ve found some sweet vintage at the Rogers location, FYI!)

Since I have to be to work at 9 a.m., I think I’ll most likely be hitting up a single Savers and then maybe a Unique over my lunch break.

Happy shopping y’all!

labor day sales roundup

{source}

Hey birdies!

It feels strange wishing anyone a “happy Labor Day weekend,” considering that the holiday is basically the death knell of summer. I intend to completely ignore the fact my calendar says September, and party through this weekend like it’s the middle of June. Part of my “party” agenda, as usual, includes a good amount of thrifting. If you, too, want to take a break from mourning the end of summer and do a little thrifting, Monday’s the day to go. Here’s a to-the-point roundup of super sales, happening around town.

Goodwill
50 percent off blue, green and yellow tags, and 50 percent off all furniture. Stores will be open on Monday, 9 a.m.-6 p.m.

Savers
Take 50 percent off all clothing, shoes, accessories and items tagged “bed & bath.”  Stores will be open bright and early at 7 a.m.all the way until 9 p.m.

Salvation Army Thrift Stores
All clothing will be 50 percent off on Monday, and in-store specials (like 1/2 off all books, etc.) will be announced every hour. Stores open Monday, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Arc’s Value Village Thrift Stores
All merchandise (except white & orange-tagged goodies) will be 50 percent off. Sale runs Monday from 9 a.m.- 7 p.m.

Second Début
All apparel will be 25 percent off on Monday. Both the St. Paul and Excelsior stores will be open from 10 a.m.-6 p.m.

Unique
VIP card-holders will get 50 percent off their entire purchase. Stores open at 10 a.m.

Before you go, be sure to check out these pro thrifters’ top tips for surviving super sale days.

Happy shopping!

heads up: thrift-store sales & rummages to hit

{source}

Boy oh boy, do I love Fridays. (I’m guessing you knew that already, right?) My schedule is crazy-packed this weekend, but I’m hoping to get out and do a little bargain hunting before Monday rolls around. Here’s what’s on my list for thrift-store sales and rummage-y events happening this weekend…

The “Blast from the Past” vintage sale at the Hope Chest for Breast Cancer shop in Orono is back this weekend by popular demand. New additions and price reductions are promised…Learn more about what to expect at the sale here.

ARC’s Value Village kicks off its Spring Accessories sale event today. Stock up on handbags, jewelry, shoes, scarves, belts and other accessories at discounted prices through April 23rd at all four of their metro locations.

Rummage sale season is back! My top pick for this weekend is Minnehaha Communion Lutheran Church‘s annual rummage sale which runs from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. tomorrow at 4101 37th Avenue South in Minneapolis. (Bag sale starts at noon.) I’ve gone to this sale religiously for the past few years and have consistently gone home with great stuff.

And last but not least, this estate sale looks INSANE.

Well, I’m off to Elsie’s for our company’s annual bowl-a-thon followed by an appointment with my wonderful, heaven-sent accountant. I’m patting myself on the back for filing my taxes ahead of the deadline this year! Whatta concept!

savers’ coupon calendar

True story: I inadvertently shoplifted from Savers today. Holy embarrassment, right?

Here’s how it happened: I stopped here quick over my lunch break to drop off a few bags of clothing that had been purged from my closet the night before. While I was waiting for the cashier to hook me up with my donation receipt and coupon, I saw this snazzy calendar sitting by the register and whoop, into my purse it goes. It wasn’t until I got home that I realized it said “$2.99” in the corner. Ummmm, oops!

Anyhow, to make some kind of amends for my crime, I thought I’d fill you in on the sweet deals you’ll find. Because believe you me, you aren’t going to bring it home due to it’s gorgeous photos or inspiring design. You want this calendar because it’s chock-full of coupons that’ll save you dough all the way through to 2012.

Here’s a month-by-month rundown…

February: Buy any four items and get the fifth item of equal or lesser value FREE
March: Buy one item at regular price, get a second item of equal or lesser value FREE
April: Save 20% on your purchase when you donate two bags or boxes
May: Save $5 on your purchase of $25+
June: Save $10 on your purchase of $30+
July: Buy any four items, get a fifth item of equal or lesser value FREE
August: Buy any two summer-wear items and get a third one FREE
September: Save 30% on your purchase of used merchandise when you buy $50+ of new Halloween merchandise
October: Save 20% on your purchase when you donate two boxes or bags
November: Save 30% on your purchase of used merchandise when you buy $30+ of new merchandise
December: Save 30% on your purchase of used holiday merchandise
January 2012: Save $3 on your purchase of $10+

I’m most pumped about the coupons for March, May, June and December. What is up with November’s savings offer? Take 30% when I buy $30 or more worth of new merchandise? Who the heck buys new stuff at Savers? Not me!

Anyway, even if that month’s a total dud, if you’re a regular shopper Savers, you should pick one of these babies up pronto. They’re available through the month of January, while supplies last. And now, I shall cross my fingers that this little blog post saves me from any awful karmic retribution. If you see a tweet about me getting a parking ticket or burning my nachos tonight, you’ll know why I’m being punished!

Morning lovelies, and happy Friday!

How about we kick off the weekend with some good news? There are a couple opportunities for great saving at local thrifts this weekend!!

♥ In celebration of the opening of two spankin’ new Goodwill stores in Hudson, Wisconsin and Coon Rapids, Minnesota, shoppers at ANY and ALL Goodwill stores in the area will enjoy 25 % off all blue, yellow and green tags on Saturday, and 50% off all red tags on Sunday. Both the Hudson and Coon Rapids will have a weekend-long silent auction, too. Tip: Thrifting pros get there right before the auctions close, in this case, 4 p.m. on Sunday. (These sale offers do not apply at Second Début boutiques or the Goodwill outlet.)

♥ On Columbus Day (Monday), if you’re a card-carrying VIP shopper at Unique Thrift Stores, you can take 50% off your entire purchase at any of their four locations (New Hope, Burnsville, St. Paul, Columbia Heights) and at Valu Thrift in St. Paul/Woodbury. You will not be able to sign up for a card on Monday, so hustle over there over the weekend to get enrolled. It’s free!!

I hope you all have lovely, lovely Fridays!
