I’ve gotten a few questions lately about what clean, green, affordable beauty products I’d recommend, so today, over on Beauty Bets, I’m sharing a few good-for-you facial cleansers that I love. And, despite the myths that everything eco-friendly is A. expensive and B. hard to obtain, all of ’em are priced under $10 and available at your local drugstore, Target or food co-op. Please check it out if you’re so inclined. I hope you all have beautiful Wednesdays!

fringe-filled vintage-y editorial

Morning friends!

Last fall (the day before this, to be exact), the ever-lovely Hollie Mae Schultz stopped by Mighty Swell to pull a few things for a test shoot she was styling. It’s fun to see how stylists work the pieces they pull into editorials, and as expected when Hollie’s involved, the resulting spread is simply gorgeous. Here are a few shots featuring High Plains Thrifter merchandise…you can check the story in its entirety here.

I’ve been laundering sacks upon sacks of spring nighties, slips and caftcans in preparation for this Friday’s lingerie sale at Mighty Swell.

The pink dressing gown in the middle of the first photo is by far my favorite find of the past week. I have the exact same gown in teal and wear it all the time, as evidenced below.

It’s the most comfortable thing ever.

I’ve also been stocking up on girly artwork and boudoir-type necessities for Friday’s event, including these sweet little floral prints. I’m a sucker for circular frames.

Some other choice finds of the week, not pictured: a white leather fold-over clutch, a men’s short-sleeved button-down that’s covered in tiny red anchors, a sweet set of rocks glasses and a couple nice summer dresses.

Have you been out thrifting lately? Did you find anything brag-worthy?

flashback to mighty swell’s summer sale

My friend Julia shared some pics with me today that she and her hubs took at Mighty Swell’s summer sale. Going through them this afternoon, on a  dreary February (!) day, was a total pick-me-up. I love all the small details they captured! In the crazy hustle and bustle of our sales, I barely have a moment to breathe, eat or pee, much less appreciate all the pretty moments happening right in front of me. I’m grateful to have these images now, so I can remember just how special those two days were. Anyway, I hope enjoy this little glimpse back to that sunny July weekend…

Many, many thanks to Julia for sharing these with me…<3 ya girl!

Just popping in to share some small finds from the past few weeks…

How precious are these delicate little bow earrings? I can’t recall where I thrifted these, but clearly, I didn’t spend more than 50 cents on them.

I got this deadstock bag at the Burnsville Salvation Army during a yellow tag day, so it cost only $1. (It was from a collection of clothes and accessories Target did with Hamilton Wood Type.) I put it to good use the week after I thrifted it when I was running late and needed to wrap up a belated birthday gift.

On that same trip to the Burnsville Sal Val, I found a vintage sheet set from Stevens Utica, still in its original packaging. (On Etsy, just one used sheet in this pattern sells for around $17!) These I believe will wind up at the store…they’d be great material for a sewing project!

These (blonde) matryoshka dolls are from the Value Village over in Saint Paul. It’s likely that they will wind up in one of Mighty Swell’s grab bags.

Have you been out thrifting lately? Did you find anything wonderful?

heads up: mighty swell’s first-ever men’s sale!

At Mighty Swell, pleasing our amazing customers is our no. 1 priority. So when the requests for more clothes for guys kept rolling in, the idea for a menswear-only sale was born. I couldn’t be more excited about the group of vendors we’ve assembled for this sale—they’re seriously some of the best pickers in town and helping them load in over the past couple of days has been a delight. I’m also happy that our friend Danny Sigelman made us a soundtrack for the weekend. He’s selling off some of his vintage vinyl this weekend, too— about 300 or so records, all priced between 50 cents to $10, with the majority of them falling into the $2-3 range. And, lest I forget the really important stuff, we’ll also have beer sticks. Talk about icing on the cake. If you’re in the area, I hope you’ll grab your fella(s) and stop by for a spell. We’ll be open 5-9 p.m. tonight, 12-5 p.m. tomorrow.

Pretty much every post on Closet Visit makes me dizzy with dress envy, but Allison Miller‘s embroidered coral ditty stole my heart. How precious is that collar?!

If you’ve ever thought about throwing ‘bows at the thrift store, this print by Tuesday Bassen might make you chuckle.

In this week’s num-num file: Pizza-stuffed chicken breasts, roasted banana bars with maple glaze and all of these citrus-y cocktail recipes conveniently rounded up by Eating for England.

Meet Ashlie Chavez and Jaime Rugh, my latest collage artist crushes.

Mary Beth, aka one of the sweetest Mighty Swell vendors of all time, just kicked off a 31-day home organization challenge on her blog, Occupation Housewife. I can’t wait to follow along!

I’m loving this delicate DIY necklace idea from Liz Kantner and this sweet boho bunting how-to from Wednesday Custom Design. Definitely filing the latter idea away for my bedroom redo.
