recently thrifted (kinda)

Hey guys, we’ve made it half-way through the week! As someone who spent the greater part of yesterday thinking it was Thursday, I say HECK YES to that. As promised, here are a few finds from my thrifting adventures in Mora.

I couldn’t resist this set of Dorothy Parker wannabes, considering $3 bought me both the pitcher and set of eight glasses at One More Time. They’re fakes, but they’re MINT CONDITION FAKES so who cares? (The shot glass on the left I picked up for the cabin, and set me back a cool 25 cents.)

high plains thrifter / dorothy draper knock-offs Two vintage loaf pans (50 cents a piece), a souvenir tile for a most beloved state (25 cents), an optimistic mug (25 cents) I’m saving to give as a gift and the sweet crate that holds it all ($3), are all from One More Time.

DSC_4223 I have a soft spot for stationery sets of all kinds, invitations included, so picking up these sets for 50 cents a pop seemed like a great idea…until I got home and realized I could pretty much have a party a week now ’til forver and STILL have snail-mail invites left. #oops The bridal-party top hat ($1) was intended for Meggie’s bridal dinner, but of course, when her party rolled around, I completely forgot to bring it. #oopsagain Last but not least, how about this cut-crystal cake plate and matching dome ($2.50)? I cannot wait to break it out this winter! (All of these goodies came from Good Works Thrift Store.)

high plains thrifter // hat, cake carrier, invitesHave you hit the thrifts this recently? Tell me I’m not the only one who makes an #oops purchase every now and again!

Just popping in after a long day to share a few functional finds from the past couple weeks!

My old mat had worn out its welcome, so I scooped up this beauty at the Goodwill on Nicollet Avenue. Originally priced at $9.99, I got it for half of that because it was a green tag sale day. I LOVE when that happens!

welcome mat // goodwill Another Nicollet Goodwill find = this woven basket-turned-plant-holder. It’s in perfect shape, and only set me back $1.99!

plant hanger I leave a trail of jewelry around my house, and it’s such a horrible habit! This old ashtray makes the perfect bracelet-catcher, and the souvenir Minnesota dish holds my rings beautifully. Both were found for a song at the Salvation Army in Norfolk, Nebraska.

ashtrays I’ve been on the hunt for an affordable set of Christmas glasses and I found ’em in Norfolk! These aren’t super old (mid-’80s, I’m guessing) but they are in great shape, and cost 14-and-a-half cents a piece, meaning the set of eight cost just over a dollar!

xmas glasses In the clothes department, Norfolk’s Salvation Army was refreshingly not picked over. I found tons of beautiful ’50s, ’60s and ’70s items, but settled on two ’60s-era shifts (one store-bought, the other homemade), a white ’90s maxi and a classic plaid Western snap front. (Sorry for the horrifically lazy photo!)

clothesBeen out to the thrifts lately? If so, I’d love to hear what you’ve found!

Wishing you a restful eve!!

sofa3Though I’m your typical stubbornly loyal Sagittarius when it comes to work, relationships and pretty much everything else, as far as living room sofas go, I’m as fickle as they come. And since my last Craigslist find endured a broken spring last winter, I’ve had a justifiable excuse to begin hunting…again. So, imagine my delight upon finding this seven-foot velvety prize at Rank + File’s / Hello Vintage’s pop-up last weekend. The pattern instantly reminded me of a couch I’d seen on Gold Dust Stevie that very week.

Fleetwood MacAnd once I found out it had quality Gabberts bones, it was obvious that I had to take it home.

sofa labelIt fits so perfectly and is oh-so comfortable, leading me to believe this may be the sofa for me for a long, long while. P.S. A little bird told me there are more sofas available at the Rank + File / Hello Vintage pop-up this weekend. Visit ’em today or tomorrow, before it’s too late!

I’m in the thick of getting organized for a garage sale I’m having next month (more on that soon!), an activity that’s inspired me to lay off the thrift-store circuit a bit. It’s hard to be excited about bringing stuff home when you’re working so hard to clean house, you know? At any rate, here are a few small finds from recent weeks.

A 50-cent vintage shot-glass-turned vase from New to You Thriftique.

Processed with VSCOcam with f2 preset A set of six glass salad plates, also from New to You Thriftique. (I paid $2 for all six.)

Processed with VSCOcam with f2 preset A blue and white china planter from Unique in Burnsville, which I paid $1.99 for.
